Referee Advisor Policy

The Referee Advisor is an important educational tool for associations in the development of their referee programs, and referee education and mentoring, for all current and potential referees.

Policy for Selection of Victorian Referees to Australian Junior Championships

The VBRA Elite Referees Committee will nominate referees to Basketball Victoria (BV), through BV’s governing body for officiating (currently the VBRA), for appointment to the various Australian Junior Championships, based on the listed criteria.

Cancellation of Games Guidelines Document

To provide clear guidance to the VBRA Branches and Basketball Associations about the parameters,
when a referee will be reimbursed for a game that is classified a walkover or cancelled due to heat, leaks, power failures and other unforseen circumstances.

 

Calling off of Games

It is essential that official basketball games are played in proper environments with proper timing. When situations involving individuals or teams misbehaving and causing causing disruption, it is vital that referees remain in control. This policy suggests the processes to follow.

Sin Bin

Basketball Victoria has implemented the Sin Bin Rule as part of its game development program and recommends its adoption in all domestic competitions across the state.
