Four Victorian referees selected for U16 Aus Champs

CONGRATULATIONS to the four Victorian referees who have been selected to officiate at the upcoming Australian Under-16 Junior Championships in July.

Earning their selections to the national tournament – based on their performances within MUVJBL,  Basketball Victoria Country events and the National Junior Classic – are Shania Watson (Geelong), Lachlan Saines (Wodonga), Joshua Durand (Nunawading) and Sam Viergever (Knox).

All four referees are officiating in Big V, with Durand and Viergever also officiating in MUVJBL while Watson and Saines officiate throughout Basketball Victoria Country events and competitions.

Held on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, from 6-11 July, the Australian Under-16 Junior Championships are one of the five national tournaments hosted by Basketball Australia alongside the Under-20 and Ivor Burge, Under-18 and Kevin Coombs Cup, Under-14 Club Championships and the Australian Schools Championships

Basketball Victoria and the Technical Officials Department would like to congratulate these four referees on their appointments.

Any time a Victorian representative makes it to the national championships – whether as a player, coach, referee or within the team staff – it stands as a phenomenal achievement well worth celebrating.
